FAQ

These are the most common questions we get asked about Tensided. If you don't see your answer here, fire off an email to either of us.

Q: What is Tensided?

A: Tensided can refer to either the Tensided rules, or the Tensided website. The Tensided rules have come a long way since they were first conceptualized around 1997. The same can be said of the website, which originally launched in 2003. Tensided is a pen and paper role playing game ruleset. The rules are meant to be easy to learn and use by players and GMs alike, and are fully modular, meaning they can be applied to a variety of campaign settings with minimal changes to the core rules. Tensided.com is the home of Tensided, and serves as the repository for the rules and other information about Tensided.

Q: Can I get the rules and start playing?

A: A qualified yes. While the rules are currently available and complete, it is not recommended for someone unfamiliar with Tensided to begin GMing games with the system. Instead, you may join an ongoing campaign as a player in order to learn Tensided by doing. Only then should you attempt to run a game using Tensided.

Q: You said Tensided is easy to learn and use by players and GMs alike, but then say one should familiarize themselves with the rules before GMing. Which is it?

A: The latter. Tensided is certainly meant to be easy to learn and use, but simply isn't at the moment. The rules will be rewritten with a wide audience in mind, in order to accomodate brand new roleplayers and GMs, as well as veterans.

Q: I'd like to contribute something to Tensided. Who do I contact?

A: That's great. We're always looking for new ideas to make Tensided better. If you have an idea for the rules, send Justin a message. If you have an idea for the website, send Heath a message. You may also post a message on the forum and discuss your idea with everyone.

Q: I'd like to join a campaign. What do I do?

A: Visit the campaigns page and send an email to the GM listed, or post a message on the forum in the appropriate thread.

Q: How do I link to Tensided.com?

A: Visit the links page for a variety of banners and buttons to use for linking to us. If you'd like the favor returned, email Heath with the link for your site, and where he can find a banner or button.

Q: How did Tensided get started?

A: Tensided began as a simple modification to an existing commercially available set of pen and paper game rules, because those rules didn't provide a satisfactory role playing experience. Over time, the modifications became more complex and overarching until it was a completely original creation.

Q: How did Tensided.com get started?

A: The website began because we felt it was important to make Tensided available to others outside our circle of friends and gamers. The website has went through several designs and structures.
